Great Article on eating late affecting your sleep?

Does eating late affect your sleep?

I really enjoyed this article speaking about the correlation of how and when we eat with a peaceful rest. Since we have been taking the Visalus products we get the most restful sleep, it's wonderful! Especially since Kelly has suffered from Sleep Apnea her whole life. She used to wake up 7 or 8 times a night. I think the only time she hit REM was when we would try and watch a movie.

She sleeps good now, but we're still careful though about what we eat before going to bed. Sleep is so important to health.

What's wrong with white sugar and white flour

I have read so many things over the years about the maniacal processes behind sugar and flour. In fact some of it makes for good discussion. None of that information however has ever curtailed my desire for sweets. I did come to a conclusion a few years ago however that has helped me curb my sugar/flour intake immensely.

Dr. Samual West had a huge impact on my thought process here.

My explanation is very rudimentary and perhaps not completely scientific but see if its simplisticness helps you like it has me. Here goes:

White flour and white sugar are what I call "dead carbohydrates" They have almost no nutritional value. Eating them is akin to a horse chewing on the railing of his stall to quell his pica pangs . Pica is a disorder where the bodies urgent craving for a much needed mineral is met by eating coal or paint or mud ect. I compare snacking on junk food to pica, they are not really comparable, but what a concept when we eat dead carbohydrates, sugar/flour we are consuming useless fodder.

It goes like this: the Pancreas is crying for needed reinforcements, the vitamins, minerals and other building blocks of life - essential for a body to thrive. I get the message from the pancreas "I am really hungry" so I grab a big cookie to "snack" on. I inhale the cookie and my hunger pain disburses.

The pancreas never imagining we would do something so foolish accepts the requisitioned supplies without question - it sends on the insulin to open the cells to receive the requested nutrients. You can imagine the cells surprise when it gets unusable garbage. What can it do but turn what it has received to fat and cause other digestive issues. That's not the worse of it though:

As early as the 1930's there were reports of soil nutrient depletion in the farm lands, this was met on one level by deploying potassium, phosphate and nitrogen(WWl surplus?) as fertilizer. This is what we use today and it contributes significantly toward good crop yield. But what about other minerals that are drained from the soil as the crops use them up? They are not refurbished and year by year that ground decreases in nutritional mineral content. So our fruits, vegetables and grains are only partially as nutritious as they were a hundred years ago.

This makes my point all the more poignant we need all the fruits, vegetables, grains and good proteins we can get. I believe God put so much good into every apple, carrot and kidney bean that our body needs them on many different levels. We need all the life packed nutrients we can get, when ever we can get them(this is one reason I use the vitamix every morning). When we pass on re-fueling right and consume junk food we not only forfeit needed health benefits we add injury to insult by ingesting enemies to the cellular community.

When we cave to the crave for sugar and bleached flour and fast food we are telling the pancreas to shut up with a slap when all it was telling us is that we needed some good vitamins and minerals quick!

ps... since I wrote this article we have found a product which adds all the missing minerals to our diet and because of it we have experienced wonderful health benefits in a very short time.
